Alzheimer’s Society (Surrey)
How we help:
We offer a Day Support Service based in Haslemere and Cranleigh where people with dementia can come and socialise, take part in stimulating activities and receive a hot lunch.
Our team of Dementia Navigators can provide information, support and signposting on a wide range of topics around dementia either at peoples homes or over the telephone; they can support both people with dementia and their carers. They can also advise on eligibility for and how to apply for benefits i.e. Attendance Allowance and Carers Allowance.
We have several Peer Support Groups which offer people the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation, share experiences and support each other. We have a range of activity clubs all of which provide socialisation and stimulation.
Our Carer Information and Support Programme (CrISP) provides tailored support and up to date, relevant and evidence based information, in a group environment. For carers of people with dementia, the course covers issues which may arise as dementia progresses.
Carry out Dementia Friendly and Dementia Champion training.
Where your circumstances are complex and you need help from various organisations, we can help you by making contact with several organisations within the Waverley network on your behalf, without you having to explain your circumstances to them over again.
